Type E gearbox

Post by JamesF » Mon Oct 16, 2017 11:00 pm

Does anyone have a pic of a Type E box? The one on Burton Power is rather small. I may have one on my Ranger conv but want to have a look at another to compare. The other 4 sp I have is definitely a Type B but apparently there was another box fitted to the GT engine which looked identical to the Type B but had a web underneath the bar above the extension housing which was similar to the Type E.

Having now had time to ask around a few sources - I believe what folk have called the GT box is in fact the Type B heavy duty as mentioned in the Escort Haynes manual. I just wanted to know for definite... but not seen a pic to compare with the Type E. Just fitted a rose jointed close ratio gear stick £45 - great improvement over the adapter one and no hassle to fit. No worries about the gearstick coming loose whilst driving along... had it a couple of times!

The Ranger is now back on the road as my everyday motor.
