Air filter box to carb gasket?

Post by TimS » Sat Apr 29, 2017 6:33 am

Hi all,

The last time I was working on the Ranger I noticed the soft plastic / rubber insert that goes between the carb and the std round 1300 Mk2 airbox had deterioated and now I need to find some sort of solution.

Ideally that would simply be another gasket but I can't seem to find such on it's own so I'm guessing it might be a second hand airbox complete with said gasket or some aftermarket K&N type thing?

Given time I might be able to design and print a mould on my 3D printer and cast my own but in the meantime ...

Cheers, T i m

Hi Tim,
You could try giving Graham a ring at G S Escorts in Widnes on 0151 4228333.
They're not too far from us, so always my first port of call for parts. :D
Good luck with the search.
Kevin.

Can't you just take some soft squidgy material and cut one out with scissors? A computer mouse mat looks like a good source.

Good idea Richard ... but to be honest I've not looked at it closely for a while but the original one had a profile of sorts that clipped into the filter housing to stop it becoming detached and ingested. ;-(

I'm going to work on it now so ill pop the filter off and have a look. ;-)
