Re: Have a Ranger Conv? rear spring lowering

Hi James. When the Rickman club was getting together at the shows in the early 90's owners were discovering the standard springs were ok if running an OHV engine, but if you had upgraded to a pinto usually the 2.0 litre which many had so they could pull a caravan, then it became apparent that the fr...

Re: Have a Ranger Conv? rear spring lowering

Hi James As for the front springs do you know what is fitted? are they uprated or standard escort, if you are running a ohv engine they may well be adequate if not too tired, if you have a pinto the springs will need uprating to 145Lb plus 1 inch to take the weight of the pinto which a heavy engine ...

Re: Screen rubbers

Hi Kevin. When I did Trudy's Rancher I bought the same stuff but it was very difficult to put the glass and it actually came out again, Trudy then got some rubbers from a firm in New Milton Hampshire that were the original suppliers to the Rickman factory at Stem lane and they are still opposite the...

Re: Have a Ranger Conv? rear spring lowering

Hi James.

If you have not already spent out on your leaf spring bushes then I would opt for polyurethane ones, I put them all round on my last Ranger and they never failed an mot again,

Thinking about it can you still get the rubber ones?

Re: Have a Ranger Conv? rear spring lowering

Hi James. Do you get a set of u bolts with this set as in my experience they usually break when trying to undo the nuts, so you have to then replace the u bolts. I would expect there to be some in the set probably longer ones to account for the spacers you fit to lower the axle, don't forget this is...

Re: Have a Ranger Conv? rear spring lowering

Hi James. My thinking on this is because the saloon sits lower may be down to the fact that there is more body weight than a convertible. that's just my theory. I used single van springs on my Ranger and the car sat level front to back, does your saloon sit level and is the convertible higher at the...

Re: Pinto - motocraft electronic ignition

Re: so I bought a Rancher.....

Hi Lee.

I don't know if its my eyesight or the angle at which the photo has been taken, I'm sure you will advise me, but it looks as if the alternator pulley is not in line with the crank pulley!

Regards Alan.
